Our team started life as an initiative to get players who had stopped playing football, back involved in the game.
The FA had identified several key points where people stopped playing, one of which was before they reached 40. As a result, the aim was to re-engage over 40’s in actively playing football.
In January 2019, the first session of the LFA Over 40’s took place at the Lancashire FA’s ground in Leyland.
The average age of players at the early sessions was around 45 years old and most hadn’t actively played regular weekly football for around 5 years.
