If you told us when we started Hardly Athletic that we’d be gracing the hallowed turf of two massive local stadiums in the same week, we probably would have laughed, checked our hamstrings, and ordered another round. But this past month, that is exactly what happened.
We traded our usual pitches at a local school for the pristine grass of Ewood Park and the Toughsheet Community Stadium, all in the name of supporting two incredible causes. Here is how it all went down.
Leg 1: Under the Lights at Ewood Park
Our week kicked off with a massive fixture against Senior Soccer FC at Ewood Park, the historic home of Blackburn Rovers.
Playing at a stadium with that much history is always a bucket-list moment. While the legs might have felt standardly “Hardly Athletic” after a few heavy runs across that massive pitch, the energy was unmatched. More importantly, the night was all about supporting the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust. The work they do across the region—using the power of football to improve health, education, and inclusion—is vital, and we were incredibly proud to help raise funds and awareness for their ongoing programs.
A massive thank you to Senior Soccer FC for the brilliant competitive spirit and a fantastic match.

Leg 2: Making History at the KeyGeni Charity Cup 2026
Before our muscles could even fully recover, we were back on the team bus heading to Bolton Wanderers’ Toughsheet Community Stadium for the highly anticipated KeyGeni Charity Cup 2026.
Sponsored by The Surveying Experts, this event was an absolute whirlwind. We knew the community wanted to make a big impact, but the final numbers absolutely blew past expectations. The event smashed its initial £5,000 target and has raised over £8,000 so far, setting a brand-new record for the Cup!
Every single penny of those funds is going directly to Support Dogs. This amazing charity trains:
- Autism assistance dogs to provide safety and independence for children.
- Epilepsy seizure alert dogs that can provide life-saving warnings.
- Disability assistance dogs tailored to help people living with complex conditions like MS, Cerebral Palsy, and fibromyalgia.
Knowing the aching joints we woke up with the next day went toward funding these life-changing canine companions made every single sprint entirely worth it.
There is Still Time to Support!
While the final whistle has blown on the pitch, donations are still actively flying in. If you want to help us push that record-breaking total even higher for Support Dogs, you can still chip in.

To everyone who came out to watch, supported online, donated, or organized these events—thank you. Hardly Athletic might be a bit sore this week, but our hearts (and our charity record) have never been in better shape. Up the Athletic!
